Ben Hur Lampman Park is named for the editor of The Gold Hill News from 1912 to 1916. It has long been a shaded spot on the Rogue River for fishing and for visitors and residents.

After Interstate 5 was built, the park was deeded to the state, and in January 2012 it was returned to the city.
