About this park
Bertelsen Nature Park is co-owned and managed by the Bureau of Land Management and the City of Eugene.
Stewart Pond is a well-known wintering area for migratory waterfowl, and Grimes Pond, Teal Slough, and Sandpiper Pond to the west are especially good areas for waterfowl viewing.

The Bertelsen Trail and Malik Trail wind past the pond, through the prairie and oak habitats, and into the riparian woods.
The Malik Trail is named for the native Ash trees here (Malik means “ash” in Kalapuyan).
